Homage to composer Borislav Boro Tamindžić

Homage to one of the most important Montenegrin composers, Borislav Boro Tamindžić, will be held in the Royal Theatre “Zetski dom” on Friday, December 9^th, with a concert by the Chamber Ensemble of Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra.

Conducted by Robert Homen, the Chamber Ensemble of Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra will perform Borislav Tamindžić’s works “Impressions from the exhibition of Risto Stijović”, Suite for clarinet and string orchestra and Rhapsody for piano, trombone, timpani and chamber orchestra.

The solo parts will be performed by violinist Marija Đuranović, flautist Tamara Knežević, pianist Davor Novak and soprano Milica Raičević (“Impressions from the exhibition of Risto Stijović”), clarinetist Petar Garić in the Suite for clarinet and string orchestra, as well as pianist Vladana Perović, trombonist Dejan Ljujić and timpanist Srđan Palačković in Rhapsody for piano, trombone, timpani and chamber orchestra.

The concert, which the Royal Theatre “Zetski dom” realizes in cooperation with Montenegrin Music Center, will start at 8pm, and admission is free.

One of the most significant and prolific Montenegrin composers, Borislav Boro Tamindžić, was born in Kotor in 1932 and spent most of his childhood, youth and life in Podgorica. He started secondary music school “Njegoš” in Cetinje, and finished in Kotor. He studied at the Academy of Music in Belgrade, in the class of Nikola Hercigonja.

Tamindžić’s first services were related to the Radio-Titograd. He was a lecturer at the Music School, worked for the Montenegrin National Theatre, collaborated on numerous public performances and events. From 1976, he worked as a music editor at the Television of Montenegro, where he spent 19 years. The largest part of the musical treasure, can be found in Radio Montenegro.

In his rich work, Borislav Boro Tamindžić dealt with production and stylization of folk melos, choral music, he wrote cantatas and oratorios, chamber and orchestral music, stage music for the theatre, music for films, children’s operettas and the opera Šćepan Mali, which he did not manage to complete. He died in 1992.
