The Studio of “Zetski dom” has started: An educational and cultural segment of enormous importance for children and young people

The Studio, a unique educational and cultural segment in which children and young people from Cetinje participate, has started in the Royal Theatre “Zetski dom”. 

These activities are aimed to develop play, imagination, education, talent and creative potential, especially in terms of audience development, and the participation of young people in the creation of theatre projects and programmes.

In this segment of our work, under the mentorship of theatre director and pedagogue, Prof. Petar Pejaković, children aged 8 to 16 participate, and the programme will last until the end of the current theatre season, i.e. June of the following year.

“We are continuing a wonderful idea, that the drama Studio functions in Cetinje, within a significant institution, it is free and intended for everyone who is of school age to be educated – not only when it comes to theatre and art, but also when it comes to work on ourselves”, Pejaković pointed out.

He also said that this is the only case in the region, and probably wider, that a significant theatre institution stands behind such a pedagogical programme.

“This offers a high-quality school and education to children and young people. I am especially happy that it is in Cetinje, which I see as my city. Unfortunately, Cetinje, like many other cities, does not offer much to young people when it comes to art and education. This is exactly the opposite example and I hope that soon we will have wonderful results in young, creative, smart people who will enrich our entire environment”, he added.

Children and young people did not hide their satisfaction for participating in the programme, which is unique in Montenegro.

Doroteja Bušković, who has already participated in the programme, said that the participants acquired exceptional skills during the classes.

“Not only when it comes to the stage, but also life. I am very grateful to Prof. Petar Pejaković and all the professors who were part of the process”, she pointed out.

The girls Mia and Jovana Đurović said that they feel great during the classes at the Studio.

“We like acting, our professor is very funny and very good, we want as many of our peers as possible to join”, they added.

A student from Cetinje, Mašan Maštrap, said that he is happy that in his city exists the Studio of the Royal Theatre “Zetski dom”.

“I would skip any of my obligations just to come here”, he said.

Parents are also satisfied with the realization of this programme segment of  “Zetski dom”.

Dragana Ljiljanić said that this is a segment that has special importance for the development of the creative potential of children and young people.

“I would like to emphasize the engagement of Prof. Pejaković and thank the theatre for continuing the implementation of this project”, said Ljiljanić.

Milena Stanojević also expressed a similar opinion.

“I want to praise “Zetski dom” because once again the opportunity was given to the children from the Old Royal Capital to enjoy and learn something new from the director and professor Petar Pejaković, all through play. Our children lacked that, and there should be more programmes like this”, she said.

According to Milena Iljazi, the acting studio is one of the most important activities that children can have in Cetinje.

“It affects their self-confidence, their creativity and thinking. I can tell you that this is an activity from which my child comes home happy every day”, she said.

Andrej Hudobčonak’s child also attends the studio, who assessed that it is a good concept. He also pointed out how good it is that the activities are free, and that the Studio is also good for Cetinje.

“As a parent, I am grateful for these kinds of activities”, he concluded.

The Studio programme is realized in the space of Gallery 42°, thanks to the support of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje.
