The Royal Theatre “Zetski dom” published today the third edition of theatre newspaper “Protagonist”.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The new edition brings an interview with director Boris Lije\u0161evi\u0107 about the play “Beneath the Two Suns”. He says that anxiety produces a scream, and a scream produces drama and material for a play, and this one derives from collective feeling, our lives, our recent history, some people we remember, characters we know.\u00a0He spoke about cooperation with “Zetski dom”, as well as theatre opportunities today.<\/p>\n

Prominent regional journalist and theatre critic Bojan Munjin in his text treated the issue of preserving aesthetics and the audience in the age of corona and other crises.\u00a0He reminds us of Shakespeare, according to whom the theatre must “show virtue her own feature, scorn her own image, and the very age and body of the time his form and pressure\u201d and adds that today the theatre has difficult task to return to its beginnings.<\/p>\n

After the premiere performance of the play “Groupie”, based on the texts of the contemporary Croatian playwright Mate Mati\u0161i\u0107, we spoke with the director Ana Vukoti\u0107.\u00a0She says that in a theatrical sense, mixing of reality and fiction is very inspiring and potent, and that Mati\u0161i\u0107 places the question of truth and lies on the one hand and fiction and reality on the other at the center of consideration.<\/p>\n

The third edition opened up the question of the position of theatre magazines.\u00a0In the text of the editor-in-chief of the Novi Sad magazine “Scena” and the director of Belgrade’s BITEF, Milo\u0161 Latinovi\u0107, analyzed the situation in the countries of the region.\u00a0His opinion that the disappearance of magazines, caused the loss of authorial continuity, but that within the theatre community there is a willingness to engage, and therefore one should be optimistic when it comes to the survival of periodicals from this field.<\/p>\n

“If it really wants to be relevant, criticism should take into account current practices, and not an ideally designed theatre concept”, points out, prominent Montenegrin journalist and publicist Vanja Kova\u010devi\u0107 in his text about position of theatre criticism.\u00a0He adds that criticism must be based on knowledge and respect for the theatrical act, and not a mere desire to destroy and belittle it.<\/p>\n

In the third edition, there is also a review of the admission of the Royal Theatre “Zetski dom” to the European Theatre Convention – the most influential network of public theatres on the continent, as well as the great success of “Anna Karenina” at the 62nd MESS International Theatre Festival in Sarajevo in October this year, where it won Grand prix \u2013 “Golden Laurel Wreath for the best theatre performance overall”, along with five other awards.<\/p>\n

In this edition, we continue the series of texts from the Archive Notebook column, by author Rajko Radulovi\u0107, dramaturge of the Royal Theatre “Zetski dom”, recalling the play “Final Countdown”, which was premiered in October 2003, directed by Lidija Dedovi\u0107.\u00a0The piece by the Romanian writer Saviana Stanescu talks about life on the margins of society in a metaphorical, at certain moments morbid, cruel, but also concise way.<\/p>\n
