Rođen 1903. godine u Beogradu, Jovan Tanić bio je glumac i reditelj. Nakon boravka u pozorištima u Skoplju, Beogradu, Nišu i Sarajevu, član cetinjskog pozorišta postao je 1935. godine. Tokom jedne pozorišne sezone, u “Zetskom domu” režirao je 14 komada. Jovan Tanić stradao je 1944. godine.
