The premiere of the play “Groupie” in “Zetski dom” on Friday

The play “Groupie”, based on the one-act plays “Autograph for Milica” and “Groupie”, by prominent contemporary Croatian writer Mate Matišić, directed by Ana Vukotić, will be premiered in the Royal Theatre “Zetski dom” on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 8pm.
In addition to direction, Vukotić signed the adaptation and design of performance, dramaturgy by Željka Udovićič-Pleština and Rajko Radulović. Costumography by Lina Leković, screening and video installation by Ivan Marušić Klif, scenography by Andrea Rondović, music by Aleksandar Radunović, and Nina Martinović was the assistant of director.
The cast includes Dejan Ivanić, Ana Vujošević, Marija Maša Labudović, Vule Marković, Goran Vujović, Jelica Vukčević and Vukan Pejović.
Dramaturge Željka Udovičić-Pleština pointed out that Matišić is a writer who is extremely present on regional scenes at the moment, and one-act plays, on which “Groupie” is based, are connected to the main male characters, and even more to the female characters.
“These female characters and their destinies were our directorial and dramaturgical inspiration during the process. The dramas are formally and dramaturgically separate, but they are connected to the characters who pass smoothly from one drama to another”, she added.
Udovičić-Pleština also emphasized that destinies of the characters, although shaded with humor and irony, turn out to be tragic.
“Their destinies give a global picture of the world that surrounds us, and also emanate some other topics that we are surrounded by: corruption, crime, hypocrisy, careerism and everything else that exists around us”, said Udovicic-Pleština.
Actor Vule Marković, announced the play and abstracted the sentence that Mate Matišić said through the character of Mate at the end of the play – “I don’t know if it’s because of some mental illness, from which I suffer without knowing it, or because of my professional deformity but – I experience people more and more often as characters”.
“I think there isn’t an actor who didn’t think in that direction while observing life around us. So this is a play about characters, people who have identified themselves with certain roles they play in their lives – professional, ideological, political – these are some convictions in which people, so to speak, have simply gone too far,” said Marković.
For the actor Goran Vujović, this was the second time he worked with the director Ana Vukotić. He believes that “Groupie” will be another good play.
“If the morning shows how the day will be, I hope that this play will be as successful as the previous one we worked on together,” he pointed out.
