“Iphigenia” for the end of February repertoire - Zetski dom

Zetski dom

The play “Iphigenia” based on Euripides tragedy “Iphigenia in Aulis”, directed by Zoran Rakočević, co-produced by the NGO “Korifej Teatar” and the Cultural Centers Kolašin and Bijelo Polje, will be performed tomorrow, 27th February in the Royal Theatre “Zetski dom” at 8 pm.

Cast: Anđelija Rondović, Jelena Đukić, Đorđije Tatić, Petar Novaković, Moamer Kasumović, Una Lučić, Ognjen Sekulić and Bojan Peko Minić.

Director Rakočević points out that “Iphigenia” is a piece of human catastrophe. Euripides tells us that human sacrifices for the highest social ideals are more honorable than accepting limited freedom. In that inevitable story, we are looking for today’s man who is possessed by the ghosts of an almost archetypal neoliberal discourse, where, like a Greek hero, he struggles between the dictates of dehumanized power and control on the one hand, and emotional, warm, human, and even painful truth of living, on the other side. Today’s Iphigenia is not killed by the prophecy, as we can understand it at first, but by a numb and senseless human nature, incapable of any sensitivity, cocooned in a new social class whose elite loses the reasons of humanity.
